Sumoylation protects ABI5 from proteasome degradation, attenuating ABA signaling and sensitivity to ABA. 1 Publication Plants silencing ABI5 exhibit low fertility rate due to abnormal development of mature pollen. Plants silencing ABI5 display increased tolerance to salt stress. 1 Publication Moreover, ABI5 also acts as an ABA and other phytohormone signaling integrator. Components of auxin, cytokinin, gibberellic acid, jasmonate and brassinosteroid signaling and metabolism pathways were shown to take part in ABI5 regulation and/or to be regulated by ABI5.

As a crucial regulator of ABA signaling, ABSCISIC ACID-INSENSITIVE5 (ABI5) is involved in many aspects of plant growth and development, yet its regulation of anthocyanin biosynthesis has not been elucidated. In this study, we found that MdABI5, the apple homolog of Arabidopsis ABI5, positively regulated ABA-induced anthocyanin biosynthesis. The Arabidopsis abscisic acid (ABA)-insensitive abi5 mutants have pleiotropic defects in ABA response, including decreased sensitivity to ABA inhibition of germination and altered expression of some ABA-regulated genes. The constitutive expression of ABI5 prevented the growth arrest of ppc2 under low CO2 conditions. These findings demonstrate that PPC2 plays an important role in the acclimation of Arabidopsis plants to low CO2 availability by linking photorespiratory metabolism to primary metabolism, and that this is mediated, at least in part, through ABA and ABI5 is a key component in ABA-triggered pathways during germination, seedling establishment, and vegetative growth (Lopez-Molina et al., 2001); in addition, it has been reported to play certain roles in nitrogen assimilation and signaling (Signora et al., 2001). ABI5-BINDING PROTEIN2 (AFP2) negatively regulates the abscisic acid signal by accelerating ABI5 degradation during seed germination in Arabidopsis (Arabidopsis thaliana). The abscisic acid signal is reported to delay flowering by up-regulating Flowering Locus C expression, but the role of AFP2 in regulating flowering time is unknown.

2001). Based on the complementation experiments and the similar phenotype of over-expression transgenic lines, we propose that OsABI5 has a similar function to AtABI5 in the ABA signal pathway.

2018-02-20 · The ABI5 transcript was significantly down-regulated from dry seeds after 2days imbibition in Col as well as in both csn mutants . On day2 and day3 post seed imbibition, the levels of ABI5 were still moderately higher in both csn mutants compared to Col , although not as substantial as the difference in its protein accumulation.

It binds to the embryo specification element and the ABA-responsive element (ABRE) of the Dc3 gene promoter and to the ABRE of the Em1 and Em6 genes promoters. Our results show that ABI5 plays a key role in seedling growth under photorespiratory conditions by regulating photorespiratory enzyme expression, and ABA regulates plant growth under low CO 2 conditions through modulating ABI5 expression.

Conversely, mutation of ABI5 at cysteine-153 deregulates protein stability and inhibition of seed germination by NO depletion. 2015-10-23 · GUS staining of ABI5 pro:ABI5-GUS seeds and seedlings was performed as previously described 31 using 50 mM potassium phosphate buffer (pH 7.0) containing 0.05% (v/v) Triton X-100, 1 mM K 3 Fe(CN 2014-06-18 · The expression of ABI5 is upregulated by ABI3, and ABI3 itself can also directly regulate the expression of key negative regulators involved in the seed-to-seedling transition 42. 2020-03-02 · Consistently, PIFs and the G-box motifs in the ABI5 promoter determine ABI5 expression in darkness, and overexpression of ABI5 could rescue the ABA-insensitive phenotypes of pifq mutants in the dark.

By contrast, ABI5 regulates the expression of PYL11 and PYL12 by directly binding to their promoters. 2021-03-06 ABI5 participates in ABA-regulated gene expression during seed development and subsequent vegetative stage by acting as the major mediator of ABA represssion of growth. Similarly, ABI5 pro:ABI5 was cloned in the binary pGWB3 vector39 fused to GUS. The ABI5 promoter fragments were constructed into the pLACZ2U plasmid which has a lacZ reporter gene. The abi5-1 and abi5-2 mutants have identical genomic re-arrangements, indicating that they are probably siblings that were redistributed into independent T-DNA pools.

Moreover, we discovered that PIFs can physically interact with the ABA receptors PYL8 and PYL9, and that this interaction is not regulated by ABA. The accumulated ABI5 protein further shows heteromeric interaction with HY5, and thus synergistically activates its own expression. Our findings reveal a novel transcriptional switch, composed of JMJ17–WRKY40 and HY5–ABI5 modules, which regulates the ABA response during seed germination and seedling development in Arabidopsis. ABI5 was previously reported as the target protein of AFP2 during seed germination (Lopez-Molina et al., 2003), and overexpression of ABI5 activates the flowering negative factor FLC at the transcriptional level to repress flowering (Wang et al., 2013b).
